Domain Authority is Moz’s own version of a link-strength score, separate from Ahrefs’ DR. Some clients care about DA specifically because a partner, directory or sponsor they are dealing with checks that exact number by name, not DR.

New or young sites still under DA 15-20 order this most. It is usually a first step alongside a DR package, not a replacement for one, since the two metrics measure similar things differently.

Real, indexed sites, same standard as our DR tiers. Moz’s algorithm weighs links a bit differently than Ahrefs, so we track both when we plan a mixed order to keep neither one lagging behind.

Questions We Get
Do I need both DR and DA, or just one? Depends who is checking. If a specific partner or directory only mentions DA, order DA. If you are not sure, ask us and we will tell you honestly which one actually matters for your situation.
Will the same links move both DR and DA? Often yes, since a real, relevant link tends to help both scores at once. But the algorithms weigh things differently, so results are never identical.
Is DA 20 a meaningful milestone on its own? Mostly as a starting point. Most partner requirements sit at DA 30 or higher, so treat this as step one, not the destination.
Does site age affect how fast this moves? A little. A brand-new site sometimes needs a bit more time for Moz to fully index new links than an older, already-crawled site would.
