Increase Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR)
Raise your Ahrefs DR with real, spam-free backlinks — pick your target from DR 20 to DR 90.
Domain Rating is Ahrefs’ 0–100 score for how strong your backlink profile is. It’s not a Google ranking factor by itself — anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something — but it’s the metric everyone checks: clients vetting agencies, buyers vetting sites, partners vetting guest post targets. A DR 8 site gets ignored in all three conversations.
How we raise DR
DR moves when authoritative domains link to you. Full stop. Our DR packages build links from established, indexed domains with real authority — no PBN junk that spikes the number for a month, no spam anchors that make your profile look bought.
- You pick the target — DR 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90. Price scales with the jump.
- We build until you’re there — the target is the deliverable, not a link count.
- Full report at completion — every link listed, verifiable in Ahrefs.
Realistic timelines
DR 30 from a fresh site: typically 2–4 weeks. DR 50: 3–6 weeks. DR 70+: one to two months, because links at that tier are genuinely harder to place. Ahrefs recalculates on its own schedule, so there’s sometimes a lag between links going live and the score updating.
The honest part
Raising DR raises a metric. It helps your site’s link foundation and your credibility in deals — but it’s not a substitute for ranking work. If what you actually want is customers from Google, pair it with real link building to your money pages or a monthly campaign. We’d rather tell you that now than take your money twice.

Why DR climbs in uneven jumps, not a straight line
Ahrefs’ Domain Rating formula weights links from other high-DR sites far more heavily than links from low-DR sites, and it’s logarithmic, not linear. That’s why the jump from DR 20 to DR 30 takes noticeably less link-building than the jump from DR 60 to DR 70, even though both are ten points. Each additional point at the higher end requires links from a shrinking pool of genuinely authoritative domains, which is also why DR 70+ campaigns take longer and cost more per point than DR 20-40 campaigns. We explain exactly where your target sits on that curve before you order, so the timeline and price make sense rather than feeling arbitrary.
What “established, indexed domains with real authority” actually means
We check every prospective linking domain against a specific set of criteria before it goes into a campaign: organic traffic that’s actually real and growing, not a spam site with a purchased backlink profile inflating its own DR artificially. A genuine content history, not a shell site built purely to sell links. Topical relevance where it makes sense, and clean indexing with no manual actions or obvious spam signals. This is slower and more expensive than buying links from a private blog network that can spike a DR number temporarily, but PBN-inflated DR collapses the moment Ahrefs or Google catches up, and by then you’ve already made a purchasing or partnership decision based on a number that was never real.
What you’ll need to provide
Just your target DR and your site URL to get started, we handle sourcing and outreach. If you have specific competitors whose backlink profiles you want us to study or specific topical relevance you’d prefer (for example, only tech-industry sites linking to a SaaS product), let us know during ordering and we’ll factor that into sourcing.
Common questions
Will raising DR directly improve my Google rankings?
Not by itself. DR measures your backlink profile’s strength as Ahrefs calculates it, it correlates with ranking ability but isn’t something Google’s algorithm reads directly. The same high-quality links that raise DR do generally help rankings, but if ranking is your actual goal, pair this with links pointed specifically at your money pages through our link building service rather than DR-focused campaigns alone.
Why does Ahrefs sometimes take a while to update my score after links go live?
Ahrefs recalculates DR on its own crawl and processing schedule, not in real time. Links going live today might not reflect in your DR score for one to a few weeks depending on how quickly Ahrefs’ crawler finds and indexes the linking pages.
Can DR go down after I stop building links?
Yes, if some of your existing backlinks get removed, the linking pages go offline, or the linking domain’s own authority drops, your DR can decline even without any change on your end. This is normal and part of why an ongoing link foundation, not just a one-time push, produces more stable results.
What’s the difference between this and URL Rating?
DR measures your whole domain’s backlink strength. URL Rating (UR) measures a single specific page. If you need one particular page to rank rather than your domain’s overall authority, UR-focused link building may be the more direct fit.

Who actually checks DR, and why it matters to them
Clients evaluating an SEO agency or freelancer often check the domain rating of sites they’re being sold links on before paying, a DR 8 placement priced like a DR 50 one is an easy way to spot a bad deal. Buyers evaluating a website for acquisition weigh DR heavily since it’s a quick proxy for backlink asset value. Other site owners considering a guest post or partnership frequently set a minimum DR threshold before even responding to outreach. In all three situations, a low DR closes doors before a conversation even starts, regardless of how good your actual content or business is.
Choosing the right target for your situation
A brand-new site with a DR of 0-5 usually benefits most from a first push to DR 20-30, enough to be taken seriously without overspending before you know the business will succeed. An established site stuck in the DR 30-40 range trying to compete against DR 60+ competitors in a tough niche needs a bigger jump to actually change the competitive picture. We’ll give you an honest read on what target makes sense for your specific goal (fundraising, partnership outreach, competing for a specific keyword) rather than just selling whatever tier you initially ask for.
